Fairhaven Neighborhood 

Fairhven was one of four separate towns that in 1903 all joined to become what is now Bellingham.

During its growth stage Fairhaven was believe to become the western terminus of the Great Northern Railroad, remnants of this can be seen in the cluster of red brick buildings. Fairhaven's booming years felt the effect of the 1898 Klondike gold rush and even entertained such guests as Mark Twain. Now the downtown district is a favorite to all that visit its nostalgic array of shops and restaurants.

Within the downtown region folks enjoy the new Village Green which has become a hotbed for local activities and events. At the end of Harris Avenue is Port of Bellingham's Marine Park, a great place to relax and view activity in the bay. Bicyclists and joggers enjoy public trails that surround Padden Creek.

The Fairhaven shopping district features a vast array of shops and restaurants. For your grocery needs there is also a Haggen Fairhaven Market.

Most of the neighborhood children will attend Larrabee Elementary School while the ones living north of Mill Avenue go to Lowell Elementary School. The older students receive their education form Fairhaven Middle School and Sehome High School.
