Here's a neighborhood with a history, originally established with modest older homes to accommodate lumber mill workers. Today the old mill is long gone, replaced by the ever-popular Bloedel-Donovan Park on the shores of Lake Whatcom.
Almost a community to itself, Silver Beach faces the lake and takes full advantage of both beautiful views and lakeside recreational opportunities. It's also grown beyond the original historic homes to include a variety of new residential developments, places like Big Rock Estates and the Silver Shores plat. A few apartments are located south of the park.
Beyond the variety of housing, Silver Beach is home to the Bloedel-Donovan Community Building and the Big Rock Garden Park, as well as the Silver Beach Elementary School.
