About Tom DeRose
I've been intereested in homes and land since I was 21 years old. At that time, I bought a 200 year old home in Philidelphia that needed a total restoration. Shortly after that, I built my first home. Then, I attempted to move an historic brick home that was scheduled for demolition. New construction, and, more importantly, renovating existing homes, have always been a keen interest for me. Currently, I live in a 100 year old home that is undergoing a total restoration.
In addition to buying, building, and restoring homes, I went to school in physics and math, human learning, and TV/film/theater. Odd mix you might think. Well, sort of. But for quite some time, I produced children's television for Wisconsin and Maryland Public Television. Most of these courses were in science or math. So I actually managed to apply all of what I studied in my profession. And it was enormous fun.
Some time ago, I decided I needed a break from the intense work of TV production. Big budgets, broadcast dates, highly emotional artistic types, and other factors make for high degrees of stress. It was an easy decision to pursue my other passion--working with homes. So here I am, having fun, working hard, and interacting with architecture.
